The Archers Word
Footed arrow - item
An arrow with a shaft composed of two types of wood. The reason to do such types of arrow can be various:
- The arrow length required may be longer than sticks of wood that are available. For that reason, arrows can be composed instead of one piece, two or more.
- Most wooden arrows break near the tip. By choosing a harder wood for the arrow tip, the durability of an arrow increases.
- Having a heavier wood at the front is favorable for the stability of an arrow, (which may mean that reducing the fin size is possible, reducing drag on the arrow.)
Footed arrows were considered as the finest of arrows in medieval times and where especially used by Europeans and Native Americans.
